Job Description

Salary: $72,000 - 112,000 per year Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; a masters degree is preferred.
  • 5–7 years of experience in data engineering or software engineering, including at least 2 years of hands-on experience building and deploying cloud-based data platforms.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL, Java, and Python, with experience using Python, SQL, and DBT/Dataform to build data pipelines.
  • Practical experience designing and deploying cloud data pipelines and platforms using GCP services, including BigQuery, Dataflow, DataProc, Pub/Sub, and Cloud Functions.
  • Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL and MySQL, as well as NoSQL and columnar databases.
  • Understanding of service-oriented architecture (SOA), microservices, and their use in cloud data platforms.
  • Knowledge of data governance frameworks, access controls, encryption, and data masking in cloud environments.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and Tekton.
  • Experience with automation frameworks, analytics dashboards, and Astronomer for data workflow management.
  • Experience monitoring and optimizing GCP costs and compute resources, including for BigQuery, Dataflow, Cloud Run, and DataProc.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to troubleshoot complex data platform and microservices issues.

Responsibilities:
  • Work with business and technology stakeholders to understand current and future data needs.
  • Design, build, and maintain scalable data infrastructure for collecting, storing, transforming, and analyzing data.
  • Develop and maintain data pipelines, models, applications, and ingestion and curation workflows across diverse data sources.
  • Design and maintain data warehouses, data lakes, and lakehouse solutions for structured and unstructured data.
  • Create analytical tools, algorithms, programs, and scripts to support data engineering and automate platform processes.
  • Standardize and curate data to ensure it is high quality and ready for analysis, supporting reliable flow from source to insight.
  • Build and manage data platforms using GCP services such as BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, and Cloud Functions.
  • Establish and maintain data governance policies, access controls, and security practices, including encryption and data masking.
  • Use Astronomer and Terraform to manage data workflows and provision cloud infrastructure.
  • Monitor and improve the performance, scalability, efficiency, and cost of data pipelines, storage, and GCP compute resources.
  • Partner with data and application architects, service owners, and cross-functional teams to define and promote cloud data engineering practices, design patterns, and frameworks.
  • Identify opportunities to improve data solutions and automate operations to strengthen reliability, data quality, and efficiency while reducing manual work.
